When Your Goals Need Accountability
Originally shared December 5, 2024 in the Naked Sunday Newsletter. Adapted for the journal.

Be honest:
Does 2024 feel like the year you fell short?
Maybe you set goals you didn’t reach.
Maybe you got stuck in old habits that kept you spinning your wheels.
Maybe you’re ending the year feeling like you’re behind—again.
I’ve been there. That sinking feeling of regret, of wishing you could go back and do things differently. But here’s the thing:
You can’t change the past, but you CAN change what comes next.
If you’re feeling like a failure in 2024, it’s not because you weren’t capable—it’s because something about your approach was missing.
Most often, what’s missing is accountability.
Why Accountability Matters
It keeps you focused. When life gets busy, accountability helps you prioritize what really matters.
It helps you follow through. A clear plan is great, but real progress happens when you’re held to your commitments.
It gives you perspective. Having someone in your corner can help you see blind spots and avoid repeating the same mistakes.
Without accountability, even the best intentions can fall apart.
So, how do you create accountability for 2025?
1. Find your “why.”
Why do your goals matter to you? When your goals are connected to your values, it’s easier to stay committed—even when it’s hard.
2. Get clear on what’s holding you back.
Identify the habits, beliefs, or patterns that kept you stuck in 2024. What do you need to release to move forward?
3. Commit to accountability.
Whether it’s a mentor, a coach, or an accountability partner, having someone to support you and challenge you can make all the difference.
Here’s the truth: You’re not a failure.
Every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow. What matters isn’t what happened in 2024—it’s how you choose to show up in 2025.
So let me ask you:
What’s ONE thing you’re ready to do differently next year?
It’s time to stop spinning your wheels and start creating real change. You’ve got this—and I’m here to help.
